Liked but didn’t love. Didn’t feel like I understood but not in a fun open-ended way, in more of a confused wanting more way

Pretty slow for me. I spent a while processing this book after because I felt like I was missing something, but I think the growth just didn’t satisfy me.

It was certainly an interesting commentary on censorship and police states and what our memories mean to us. There were some plot holes that bothered me, like at one point memories and evidence of photographs are disappeared but later citizens present their photo IDs to the memory police. Small holes but they bothered me because they opposed the book’s premise.

I wanted something more from the ending. This was interesting and worthwhile to read, but didn’t wow me.

What a book. What a strange story. But at the same time so beautiful and it made me think about a lot of things. A book I wish I could discuss with other people. So many beautiful sentences.
