The miscommunication trope was annoying but likeā€¦ understandable. Otherwise this is exactly what I wanted in an HR. Good lighthearted read (mostly, the stepmother is another story).

A very nice, fluffy romance. A pleasant read without any drama, nice way to spend time.

And Gabriel, oh!

I'm done with books with ridiculous/obvious set ups. She was in his house and did not recognise him even after he told her his name??

I now understand the hype around this book. The chemistry between Madelyn and Gabriel is so enjoyable, right away. This book reminded me of Then Came You and It Happened One Autumn by Lisa Kleypas because of the heroine who doesn't act like the other women. She is "refreshing" for the hero, and for us readers, having so many improbable situations happening to her. The dynamic between starchy MMC and clumsy unapologetic FMC (who secretly doubts herself) who can't stay away from each other was so delightful to watch.

Apparently Olivia Parker only wrote this trilogy of books, and it's such a shame. Knowing this book was her debut makes it even more impressive, and I'm more curious about the two other books in the series.

I love love this so much. Gabriel and Madelyn were so beautiful together. Maddie was so refreshing in her eagerness to try anything with Gabriel lol. Will definitely reread soon.

The cover page is so beautiful
