"Happiness is something that you have to choose of your own volition, through your own words and actions, by letting yourself feel joy and excitement, by cherishing the people important to you, and cherishing yourself. (...) Happiness wasn’t something bestowed upon you from without. It came from within. You chose it and created it with your own hands."

I don't know if I can now or ever really put my feelings into words about this story. It touched on some very personal things.

A really beautiful story about what it means to be happy and what is really important in life that I can't recommend enough. It's going to stay with me for a long time for sure.

Okay, but this one is now my second favorite after I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. It was so good!! Some elements were a little confusing (like who/what exactly her friends were) but overall it was such a cute story about exploring what exactly happiness means. Also, there was a part near the end of the book that had such Studio Ghibli vibes and I enjoyed that.

THIS BOOK WILL TOUCH YOUR HEART AND SOUL; it had no right to be so good but sad too. The way it tells the story is so simple, but thought provoking. The simplicity of the book might draw people away, but I think that’s the charm of it considering that our narrator is in elementary school ,so we see the world in which an elementary schooler would see it. To be added that the reason why the book is one that you want to continue is a small but meaningful and it’s “What is happiness?” Overall, it’s a charming coming to age story that will pull your heartstrings.
