This was good but I liked A Season of Second Chances better.

At times I thought mulled wine might actually drip from the pages. A great holiday read! Also, books are always better when they come from a friend’s library like this one kindly did

*3/5*

So.. I bumped this up to a 3 because I loved the uniqueness and the twelve dates leading up to Christmas.

But, the actual love interest was so glaringly obvious.. like neon sign obvious which made going in to the dates less fun. And the actual love interest was kind of a jerk for chunks of the book.

This is also very closed door.

Another thing sticking out in my brain was the dates. The activities were awesome but
Spoiler the men were basically all trash. Many were still in love with exes and Kate helped those couples get back together.. it happened like 3 or 4 times. And then we had two mega-jerks. I get we are supposed to root for Matt but out of 12 dates, the majority were duds. Not saying she would find amazing dates, time after time.. but even if they weren't in love with an ex, one asked to be switched to another person's date, one was a control freak, one was threatened by someone Kate was seeing and couldn't enjoy himself (don't even get me started on the threatening and Kate forgiving that).. ugh!!!!

I enjoyed this romance which features Kate, a single
woman who embarks on a journey of meeting men
through twelve different dates in December.

I love a small town setting and this one in England gave a good sense of community and friendship and it made for such a cosy setting. Kate’ best friends added to the story and everyone in the village appeared to know all about Kates dates as she met a range of men.

I thought early on where the story was going but it just made me want to read on to see if I was correct and if Kate was able to find Mr Right. A great Xmas story - very enjoyable.
This is my first book by this author and I will be reading more of her works.

Abandoned. I got halfway through and realized I could not stand a character I was clearly supposed to rooting for.

I wasn't crazy about the main love interest but this was a fast, fun read.

Loved this book as it was a slow burn (my faves) both an enemies to lovers and a friends to lovers but the ending was just such a let down!

Because it’s such a long wait for them to get together, when it does eventually happen you want something super romantic to make it worth the wait. But instead Matt just said 'I love you and I know you let me too so let's go for this" and it was unprovoked too, nothing triggered him to say that so he could have just said it at the beginning of the book.

Een heerlijke feelgood! Leuke opzet met veel clichés, leuke momenten en leuke personages (behalve meneer kwal). Hoewel het einde te voorspellen is blijft het een heerlijk boek om te lezen onder een dekentje met een mok thee!

lighthearted slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? Yes
  • Diverse cast of characters? No
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? No

3.5

Sweet story but a little too long and a little too convenient at the end.
