Just finished. There is real truth in childhood whatever adults say. And it is worth it. Wonderful. Thank you.

At first, it might seem like this book is meant for young readers. Although it may seem like that, I slowly began to realize that there are hidden meanings behind the characters and what they represent. The plot was good, but it needed a bit more character building to become a five-star read.

A new Neil Gaiman book. What can I say? He paints pictures with words with the hand of an expert. He imagines scenes and situations so fully realized that I almost think that they've happened to me. He describes dreamscapes as real as the house I grew up in. While the novel is branded "for adults", it contains only a few small elements that most readers would consider "adult", and they're told from a child's perspective so unless you know what is being referenced it comes across as strange, but not inappropriate. I could see a young Thomas enjoying this book as a child just as much as Thomas the adult enjoyed it.

It is not a long novel, and I finished it in one glorious sitting. I look forward to letting it sit in my mind for a month or two, then re-reading it.

This book was such a treat. It's a short book (only took me awhile because I was reading along with Mark Reads, one little chapter at a time), but it packs an emotional whallop. Also it is likely to make you hungry- Neil Gaiman can really describe food INCREDIBLY well. Anyway, not sure what to say about this other than READ IT NOW. It's delightful, scary, touching, and hopeful all at once.
