This was a clever and sometimes frightening re-imagining of the classic Shelley story. The pace was slightly slow, but I think if you enjoy an ethereal read you will really like this. I really love how the author brought us into the life of the man and Faustina, in their adorable relationship and with Faustina's family and network. Their quips were adorable.

The transcripts and news articles were really well done, and I appreciated the structure of the story - short and long pieces.

Although it was a little slower, I rounded up my rating because I really like the interpretation of the story, and the book felt new so although the structure was different, it had me thinking and dreaming, and that is always worth the read.

I really enjoyed the world building in this novel and how society is structured to include reanimated persons recently brought back from the dead. The little details like exploiting them for labor and money through Big Pharma was interesting and thought-provoking, and I enjoyed every segment with the reanimated protagonist.

I really enjoyed following him as a main character while so much was happening in the world around him while he was trying to make sense of his new situation and life in simple and endearing ways.

My only issue that kept it from a 5 is the dialogue and dialogue tags. I felt a lot of the dialogue itself from side characters (like Grace especially) took me out of the story at several points for feeling forced or amateurish. I enjoyed when conversations felt real in the moment, like with the Doctor and The Man, but most of the women in this story had me rolling my eyes. As for the politicians, no notes. There, the dialogue felt more true to life as over-exaggerations and aggressions, so it didn’t bother me as much. Also, I felt there could absolutely be a trim of dialogue tags to remove a lot of “he/she said” and instead add more action to those tags.

Despite that, it’s a great story, and one that I really enjoyed.

Reanimated people as stand-ins for the role and plight of immigrants to America.  Interspersed or "stitched in" are AP articles, news program interviews, and POTUS recordings.  "The man" works as a paralegal, starts a relationship with a lawyer, and yearns to find out about his past.  Eventually gets some answers.  Is the ending ominous, or the next step before the perfidy is revealed?

Felt like the plot left me wanting a little more depth and resolution. Felt a little unfinished?

im a big frankenstein guy but, while this one had a good concept, it was heavy-handed and it dragged at times. also, very little actually happened :/
