This was a real hard read. I really like the first two books and third had its challenges but inl pushed through but this one was just hard to get into at all. I miss the OG Joe. Can't say I'd pick up another Joe Goldberg book in the future as the last two have been too hard to get into

I have loved this series, but this book has been my least favorite of them all. I was really not expecting Joe to take the turns he did in this book. However, if another book is to come I'll probably read it because I love Kepnes' writing style so much.

This book was different than the rest of the series, and I know it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I did still enjoy reading it because I love the series overall. There were a few times where it was a little tough to read, like the beginning. I felt like it started out of no where with little connection to the previous book. The ending was interesting too. I’m curious to see what happens with Joe and where things are headed. I feel like he has changed just a smidge so it leaves things open, in my opinion.

I love thrillers. And I especially love darkly funny thrillers. This arc was so entertaining that I’ll be purchasing it at release to reread and then add to the little library.
Going in to For You and Only You by Caroline Keynes I had no expectations. I didn’t know it was a series (the 4th) or that there was a Netflix show.
All I knew is that the story focuses on Joe Goldberg, an aspiring writer who is welcomed into a highly coveted writing program at Harvard and with people he basically loathes. And he thinks he finally found love with Wonder, a woman he feels deeply connected to. Did I mention he’s also a killer? And doesn’t take criticism well?
The writing is fantastic and with some of the best dialogue I’ve read in a long time. I raced through the book and found myself disappointed that it ended. This was a great read and I guess I’ve gone some catching up to do with Joe! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was lucky enough to get to read this in advance of its publication! I love Joe’s inner monologue as usual and of course love that it was set in Boston. The book follows Joe’s journey writing his very own book which is pretty interesting, but it’s not as murder-y as I wished it would be. Still a good read and unique writing style!

for you and only you concludes the story of joe goldberg as he falls for yet another woman, wonder parish, a fellow classmate at harvard. they bond over the books they're writing and joe loves her book to pieces, so much that he's willing to kill the man running their group just because he disliked her novel and disrespected her. the man's wife takes over and loves wonder, taking down joe in the process and trying to break them up. joe kills her, wonder decides she doesn't want to be with him, and they go their separate ways in the end.
now you'll notice i said they go their separate ways... because he didn't KILL HER. the WHOLE ENTIRE POINT is that joe kills people and he goes crazy over the people he "loves" and is obsessed with, yet she just walks away and doesn't even believe him when he admits to murdering glenn for her??? it literally takes away everything that has been written up to this point because it's just not joe at all. i really wonder how it's possible to be so out of touch with the character you created and to end your series off like this.
the rest of the story was just as ridiculous as the ending. my favorite things, in list form:
- sarah beth digs up joe's past and gets him to admit that he murdered all these people, records their conversations, and does NOTHING about it. she uses him as insipration for her thriller novel and never reports him to the police.
- wonder plagarizes bits of joe's story and gets away with it. she lies her ass off to him and then sly jumps in to save the day and rewrites joe's story into a porno so wonder can get away with it because she's a mentor and that's what mentors do.
- when the podcast about melanda's death surfaces and joe reveals that he was living in bainbridge at the time she died, nobody questions it. at all. nobody pushes it whatsoever. joe has a portrait of mary fucking kay in his living room, who was literally melanda's best friend AND nomi went onto the podcast and talked about mary kay and stuff, and wonder never even said a word about it.
- joe just happens to show up to the house to kill sly and she's passed out from pills, which makes it so easy to kil her. what are the chances of that even happening??
- the willy wonka references throughout the entire thing just made no sense to me, i'm not really sure what the connection to the story was even though joe did explain it at one point. calling sly the 'widow willy wonka' got old very quickly.
- adding the "rip" in front of the names of all the dead people when he talks about them (ex: RIP beck) was also super fucking annoying. not to mention the repeating things, such as "tick tick tap tap tick" when the mere thought of typing is mentioned.
- the naming was a bit much. wonder, sly, mats, cherish, caridad. it was just sooo much and was soooo extra when you've also got a guy in there named bobby. find other names like bobby and stick with those. it's giving colleen hoover.
- also just the fact that the last book ends with him moving to a foreign country, which actually ends up just being florida, and then he ends up in boston cause why not. doesn't make any sense.
and so much more. overall this book seems like no thought went into it and it was just a cash grab, because people know the show and love it and they'll want to buy the book because it's you. it was easily the worst book of the whole series and dragged total ass the whole time. the pacing was all over the place, the death scenes felt weak and lacked creativity, and joe lost his charm. i hated every single second of this and i sort of wish i had actually decided to dnf this because my life would suck significantly less if i hadn't put myself through hell to make it through this unnecessarily long book. i'm so glad this is over and i can move on.

Made it to page 122 and had to stop. Not good at all. I don't like the way Joe is portrayed in this book.
