I like Joe most when he gets to be surrounded by books and writing. I wish the elements with Sarah Beth took up a larger portion of the narrative because those felt exciting and new. I could not see what Joe saw in Wonder: she pales in comparison to his past obsessions/relationships and its hard to root for them to be together when Joe doesn't even prioritize making plans with her. I love the concepts of two people in the same field having to choose between their relationship and their careers, but Wonder does so much to Joe when he has literally killed others for less.

It broke the series formula in a few ways, and I don’t know, it was fine. Just fine.

I will continue to listen to these books with glee because of Santino Fontana's beyond excellent narration as Joe Goldberg.
This one made me laugh a bunch but felt off-kilter... went real meta there with the SB character, but I did enjoy the New England setting.

I enjoyed it but it was by far my least favorite of the series. For lack of better words, Joe felt dumber and made decision that didn't seem to line up with what I expected of him. Plus , his main interest in this book just felt much less interesting than previous to me.

Oh I have loved this series so much, no idea why I empathise with Joe Goldberg so much even 4 books in and i’m like he just wants to be loved 😂 the plot pulls me in every time and I adore the narration on the audio

Uggh. I feel bad writing a more negative review, but this became pretty difficult to read. Joe was really pissing me off. Listen…. I know he’s not supposed to be loved and adored. He’s done bad shit. But he annoyed the fuck out of me in this. He has become so whiny. And while I love Kepnes ability to show us Joe’s inner monologue, but Joe do you ever just stop and STFU? I just couldn’t get with this story as much as I had hoped. I really feel like Kepnes does well building up the world that Joe is immersed in, but he has become so unlikeable, and honestly half the time I was trying to figure out wth was actually happening. I really wanted to like this, but sadly I did not enjoy it as much. I’m sure others might, but I think I liked the show adaptation more than I liked this as a book.
