I couldn’t get into this one at all. I was expecting knives out and got a lot of petty drama that wasn’t even interesting. This was a miss for me.

This story is about Jillian Moorewood who comes from a family of professional scammers . When Jillian returns from jail she is on a mission to get her family to change their ways . Throughout the book there are a few twist and turns , and some romance . For me this book was OK. The twist and turns / and romance are not very surprising or suspenseful making this book a bit of a slow read .

I did find it an easy and fun read for sure. I just found it cute rather than necessarily a gripping page turner where I needed to know what was going to happen next. However I find those books enjoyable and sometimes a nice break.

I was expecting a bit more con artist vibes from this book, but it’s really a family drama leaning towards humor.

I personally struggled with the sheer amount of characters and how much back and forth dialogue there was, and unfortunately it didn’t hold my interest.

I think it was mostly my expectations, as the description made me thing we were in for a plot heavy good time and it was very character driven instead.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my free e-arc in exchange for my honest review

What a fantastic read. I absolutely loved this book! I devoured it in one day - I had to see how it all ended. It had a great plot - Jillian Moorewood, recently released from prison after a long 39 months, goes back to the Moorewood family estate to face her family that she went to jail for, to get back at them. They have no idea what is in store for them. The generations-long con artist family had an array of characters, though at the beginning was hard to keep them all straight, that kept your interest all the way through the book. It was entertaining to see how they all fit into the story. The book was full of dysfunctional family drama and a little romance thrown in - which I adored.

They compared the book to Knives Out and Ocean's Eleven (both of which I have not seen) which I know didn't sit well with some readers....but ignore that and go out and buy a copy! You will not be disappointed.

This was a light hearted story about a family of con artists and their interpersonal drama. It’s nothing like Oceans 8 or Knives Out so don’t go in expecting that. There is no heist involved which I found disappointing.

I loved everything about this super fun romance with excellent elements of a thriller and a family drama.
Jillian Moorewood is back in her family home after spending 39 months in prison. She didn't commit the felony, but her being the head of the family and a dying request from her mother made her always put herself in front of anything that might endanger it. Unluckily for her, that family is mostly made up of con artists that live for the thrill of taking things they shouldn't. She had given her family the ultimatum to stop or lose everything before going to jail, then someone ratted her out to the FBI and now Jillian is back for revenge. But things are not at all what she expected and there's more to the Moorewood family than even Jillian knew.
I loved how the plot kept me guessing and showed different aspects of each family member. There are also little hints leading you to the revelations at the end that might not have felt so important but ended up playing big parts.
Overall, it was a fun story that instantly caught my attention and kept me glued to pages to see what else could possibly happen. I liked it enough, that I'd love to get more books following what happens to the rest of the family.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and Avon for the super fun read!

Moorewood Family Rules by HelenKay Dimon is a rom-com novel about a family of con-artists who get what they deserve. The book flowed easily and it drew me right in with the funny remarks and quick immersion into the plot. The different rules as chapter titles was hilarious and witty

We meet Jillian, fresh from 39 months in prison, ready to descend upon her unsuspecting family who put her there. She debarks from her helicopter on the family mansion’s spacious grounds in the midst of a party, where they are laying the groundwork to swindle and con their latest victims. They are none to  happy to see Jillian, but Jillian is less so. They had promised to go straight in return for Jillian taking the fall for them with the FBI. Now she’s back, she has their number, she holds all of the cards, and she’s had 39 months to contemplate her revenge.

This book was really engaging and fun since it is about a family of manipulative con artists. I have not read anything like this, so when I saw the premise of this book, I was immediately interested.  The book lived up to my expectations. The revenge aspect of Jillian's return gives this book extra zing. The supporting characters were written well and we get enough insight to understand them. The shadiness and ridiculousness of them made it that much more fun to read. While it was fun and flirty, it was also sharp and witty, which was perfection and I could not put it down! . I would recommend this book to others who love that light rom-com aspect!

Thank you Avon and Netgalley for a gifted copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Overall, I enjoyed Moorewood Family Rules! The premise was really interesting and not something I've seen done a lot before. I also liked how there was a romance plot line woven throughout the book, although it felt EXTREMELY rushed.

I found the family dynamics interesting, but I did find myself getting frustrated at the main character, Jillian, and all that she continued to put up with from her family instead of kicking them out from day one.

This book didn't blow me away, but it was an entertaining, quick read that I think others will enjoy!

Described as "Knives Out and Ocean’s 8 meets The Nest" I would love a good movie of this
