Another great book in the Chicagoland Vampire series. Merit and Ethan work together to find out why vamps are missing all while leaving the GP. Can’t wait for the next one!
The first 3 books start strong, but become repetitive after that. I stopped reading the series after book 8.
MF, vampires, fae/magic, strong fmc, standoffish mmc, almost zero spice, slow burn
Merit is made a vampire against her will under suspicious circumstances. Ethan claims to have saved her from dying in an attack by making her a vampire. She is now a member of his house and is her Master. He names her Sentinel and defender of the house, surprising everyone. She is a remarkable vampire, good at every skill she tries. Their house runs into trouble and Merit and Ethan have to team up to save the day. Can they resist their major sexual chemistry or will they fail?

I'm very sorry but I'm just going to do a short review for this one. I feel like this series has spiralled out of control and turned into something completely different to what I expected. I didn't find myself hugely interested in this book so skim read through most of it. And I think I will blast through the rest of the series just to get it finished. I'm pretty pleased I'm not the only one who thinks there has been a drop off in quality after the first three books. I will complete this series but only to get closure on the characters and to see if the war finally happens.
I'm sorry very much a MEH read. 2 stars, it was ok

Who doesn't love a countdown ending?! But honestly, enough romantic drama.
Things are getting set into motion, I kind of like the way the story is detouring.
I can’t wait to see where this new direction is going to take Merit but I have a feeling it will be for the good.
I think everyone in the house are in for an awakening but in a good way.
Again I am loving Sophie’s narration her voices for some people make the audio experience so much more.

Think I'm calling it on this series. An incredibly slow start combined with main characters showing no signs of gaining personality. How anyone could like Ethan is beyond me, dude sounds insufferable.
Honestly, I'm only continuing to read these because I'm lazy. The plot is mildly interesting, and it's easier to continue on to the next book than to find something new.
This book was pretty much more of the same - lots of tedium from Merit ("I got up, showered, put my hair in a ponytail..." - maybe there should be a drinking game for each time the word "ponytail" comes up?). The main story was ok for a while, then resolved way to quickly with way to many assumptions - hard to buy into it.
A few new things here and there, but generally this was pretty much the same as any other Chicagoland Vampires book.
