Perfectly acceptable urban fantasy albeit a little stale. The Ethan vs Merit love and angst needs to be shelved.
I liked it better than some of the other book on the series. I think Jonah has a very poor chance on getting to be Merit's guy because Darth Sullivan is the one she loves, fights for and has chosen over evertyhing else....but geez Jonah is so bloody perfect, I feel him closer to Merit, as if he was partly human while Ethan has evolve to be a manipulative, strat leader....But I know a love triangle would upset many Ethan followers and I don't see it happening any time soon...I might try to get inot the RG and get him for myself.
Lindsay was so so out of place, behaving like a 18 year old girl trying to make Ethan change his heart and then throwing herlself to his arms, that was childish and I did want to slap some sense into her! lol!

Predictable but enjoyable, this latest installment lacks some of the snarky magic the earlier books had.

I think this was better than the previous few books in that something actually happens in this book but it's still a fairly similar story to the previous books- house has problem, Ethan and Merit fall out, Merit is fabulous , dresses in lots of leather and solves problem, everyone loves Merit again.
I also felt like the plot with the murders was a waste of time and didn't really add much to the story.

Awesome
I really do love Cadogan House, Merit’s Chicago, and the people within it! I can’t wait to see what happens next!!

Partial Book Blurb ...
In a city full of vampires, trouble never sleeps.
At the tender age of twenty-seven, Merit became a sword-wielding vampire. Since then, she’s become the protector of her House, watched Chicago nearly burn to the ground, and seen her Master fall and rise. Now she’ll see her mettle—and her metal—tested like never before.
My review:
This was a witty and fun take on an Old story line; all that said ... I LOVED THIS BOOK! These books keep getting better! Can Merit meet the Challenges and save the day?
I look forward to more bad assery by Merit & Crew!

Weeeeell ... at this point I'm going to stop reading this series. Maybe I would continue it later but now I don't want to be disappointed and I rather keep a good memory of it ... Sort of ><
Let's say the plots and subplots are less original and well-built and the relationship Ethan / Merit is not enough now : it lacks too much depth. The story is full of waffles and political intrigues way too light and the characters ... Well I don't know who's worse : Ethan master of Cadogan House who is once again fooled by another person or Mallory the wicked witch who is again nice so everything is fine ...
In short there is a moment when the author had to add nuances, complexity and a little je ne sais quoi to keep hooking the readers and there, it's not yet the case ...
