I liked this story. It was the being at sea I thought was most exciting in the story. The background story surrounding Nathaniel was entertaining. His father was a ogre I thought. The book reads fast, which is good. The characters are wonderful. They certainly kept the story moving. Until next time my fellow readers… read on! I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Trigger warnings: bullying, gun violence, war, blood
I had extremely mixed feelings about the first book in this series, but this one was kind of delightful. 20-something woman decides she wants to see the world so disguises herself as a boy with plans of stowing away on board her brother's friend's ship. Except then she ends up on the wrong ship and everything goes awry.
I read the entire book in one sitting on a plane and it was essentially exactly what I needed while trapped in a flying metal cylinder of other people's farts. It required zero brain cells and I had a lovely time with it. Was it predictable? Kind of, yes. Did I care? Not in the slightest.

Oh this was such a beautiful book! Since the moment I started I knew it had the potential to become a good experience because I didn’t want to put my Kindle down. The characters, the plot, the writing it all mixed so well to create this book and I am so happy for having the opportunity to read it before it came out. I really enjoyed getting to know these character who are very different but complete each other so well, and the chemistry oh god. It was there, every chapter. I liked the pace of the story and the moment in which truths were revealed. I would love to read maybe more about the friend whose ship she was trying to get to or maybe about other characters as well. I hope everyone who reads this books has an experience as good as the one I had reading it.

The Heiress at Sea is my second Christi Caldwell book. It is definitely a comedic historical romance. Nathaniel is going to be a Duke, but he is on his last sea voyage as a captain of a privateer ship (who secretly is fighting the French for the Crown). No one expects anything from Cassia. She couldn't even find a husband, so she planned to stow away on her brother's friend's ship, pretending to be a lad. However, Cassia boarded the wrong ship, onto Nathaniel's ship. She immediately became seasick, would not stop talking, and was locked away in Nathaniel's cabin once she was discovered as a woman. They are opposites, grumpy/sunshine, adventure, and closed door romance.
Here's the thing, this is a fun story. I loved the well-rounded characters. The pacing is good, and I enjoyed the reading experience. I just wanted more for the romance. 4.5 stars.
