So good! One of my favorite series, got me invested in the genre of books ❤️

As with most "thriller" type books, I tend to get disappointed if there isn't a last minute, jaw-dropping twist. This book was lacking that. And I guessed some of the twists. The solution to the mystery was still enough of a surprise that I'd recommend it.

Also I literally couldn't put it down, I went through about 200 pages last night and finished today. Great, quick read. And I absolutely adore Nate. And Cooper. And Addy. And Bronwyn. Basically, these characters are A-1.
challenging dark mysterious

The premise sounded so interesting! There was so much potential to play with the narrators point of view, to make the protagonists play with the reader. I expected red herrings and being actually lied to by the narrators- but all they really do is withhold information. Which leaves me disappointed, although I enjoyed reading it a lot. But I kept waiting for a major twist that never came. It was entertaining in a guilty pleasure kind of way, but it could have been so much more.

Four stereotypical teenagers: Addy, the popular cheerleader; Nate, the troublemaker; Cooper, the jock; and Bronwyn, the nerd.  Each of them has a horrible secret they’d do anything to protect.  But would they even murder a fellow student? Simon, the creator of Simon Says, a gossip app all about the kids from Bayview High, knows each of their secrets.  He dies right before he is about to post all of their secrets on his app.  Police suspect that it was murder. But who was it?  Told in all four perspectives, this book is one of those thrillers where you keep guessing and guessing wrong.  I could not stop reading it.  It was very addictive, but not very well-written in my opinion.  I would still definitely recommend it if you’re looking for an entertaining read.  I find that this author, Karen M. McManus, is not a particularly good writer but she does have the skill of making sure the book stays glued to your hands and your eyes stay glued to the pages.

Age recommendation: 14-18

Rating – 7/10

*There is a show based off of this book, also called One of Us is Lying.  I only watched one episode but I thought it was pretty well done, just a bit stretched thin.  I think it would have been better off as a movie.

I’ll really need to make up a real scale on how to rate my books. But this one gets all the stars anyway. I’ve loved it a lot.

For someone like me who hasn’t read much other that fantasy for a very long time, this was a true love at first sight thing. I had know that book for a long time and it was more a buy due to the cover and things I had read about it. I do regret nothing about it. Nothing.
