Quirky as ever, Jacobs ties so many elements into his year of developing/hosting a global family reunion… so sorry to have missed it.

I am an AJ Jacobs fan and while we don't have all the same views about some family-centered things, I still really enjoyed his quest into the world of genealogy and I felt like he was respectful to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who are, of course, family history superstars. I loved when he said that LDS members (Mormons) are the best event organizers. We are well trained!

Part memoir, part how-to, part... something else. I'm very interested in genealogy so this peaked my interest. However, I was put off by the othering text in the name of humour (e.g. describing a man at a polyamory meeting as having an Asian partner... I guess the man was white??), the cheap humour (a crack at Floridians on bath salts, really) and a misspelling of the word "genealogy" as "genealoogy" on the first page of one of the chapters.

(Audiobook) I like A.J. Jacobs’ writing a lot, but this is definitely not his best. I can see why the connections would be interesting to him, but I found them fairly boring.
