The writing is a little cringe, but only in the way that it dates the comic. Like, in 10 years people are gonna read it and be like "oh that was written by a millenial between 2015 and 2019." Obviously you can't make everything timeless but you can at least try. And especially with the ending, it's very much of the time to write "every villain has a story and even the worse villain just needs a friend to be better" which is a great lesson for kids but it shouldn't be the brown girl's job to save the white boy.
Love the art. And it made me giggle here and there.

An awkward, excitable, and easily discouraged teenager gains superpowers on her 15th birthday and discovers that it’s tough balancing her crime fighting duties with her life. Overall, a fun read with a Hispanic superhero girl, but the pacing and concept didn’t capture me. It was hard to tell who the intended audience was since this reads like middle grade.
Graphic: Suicide attempt and Suicidal thoughts
Moderate: Gun violence and Violence

Having Lupe's younger sister be the person to sexualize her for a couple jokes certainly was a choice.
Also is it just me or did Lupe set her own house on fire?
Some of the font was very small and hard to read. I read it physically and I believe it was originally designed as a digital release so if you read it that way it may not be an issue.

This book is an absolute delight. It's funny and sweet and just a really great twist on the whole superhero genre.
Also, I loved that all of the women in this book were drawn so distinctly and so many of them had big noses! You don't see that a lot in animated/graphic novels.
