I am really conflicted about how to rate this book, I love this world and these characters but I really struggled to get through this. I will still be going in to book 3 as I desperately need to know what happens!
This follows on straight from the end of book 1, and we dive straight back into the action when even more things go wrong!
I think there was a lot of filler in this book, and I found myself skimming to get to the plot line. I also found myself skimming due to the miscommunication and Loren not being able to tell Darien what was happening, which is one of my least favourite things to happen in a book, so I really struggle with the back and forth of miscommunication and the length of time it takes them to come back together.
The characters in this series are the best part, their connections to each other, and the banter is fantastic, they are the perfect example of found family and I really enjoy that element of it.
This series so far has everything I love, all the creatures, spice, lore, myths, found family, complex magic systems, dirty mouthed possessive men, I am so ready to find out what happens next and how it is going to end for Darien and Loren!

This book was way too long. The first 60% were a max 2⭐️. The last 40% redeemed it a little, but that's still 600 pages of boring to get through to to good stuff. And the end was ridiculous. And let's not start on the epilogue.

The heartbreak and yearning in this book kept me up all night, and I had to force myself to put it down. I'm desperate for the third book and can't believe I'm gonna have to wait 3 more days until it'll be delivered to me.
