it took me awhile to get into this book but once i started, i could stop reading. i was kicking my feet giggling because Darien and Loren are my absolute favourites but the PAIN this book caused me?? my gosh, my heart is hurting after finishing and I NEED City of Lies and Legends right this moment.

I considered DNFing so many times particularly in the first 300 pages. There was no reason for this book to be almost 1000 pages. I’m over the characters not communicating (sometimes they couldn’t but a lot of the time they could). I’m over the characters continuously almost dying or doing stupid things simply because they refuse to ask for help.
I also don’t know why we didn’t focus more on the whole aura magic being put into weapons? Maybe it’s addressed in a future book but as of now I will not be finding out.

disappointed in this book, was really hard to finish. these characters and world deserve more purposeful writing, felt very elementary and mid. only heart good things about this series but it did not help me to get out of my reading rut. tbd on if I read the 3rd book :/

The plot is super slow for how long the book is and the main characters relationship is boring now that they are together. Every two sentences is them professing their love to each other.

Had to drag myself through this one, prob not gonna finish the series. So much unnecessary filler, and somehow like, nothing happened? Or, rather, the same thing happened as last time? Idk man, I skimmed a lot.
