Not recommended for homeschool/academic use. Portrays one creature going through all of the changes instead of an idea of changes taking a very long time. It eventually turns into a modern white, redheaded boy, which is not historically accurate for the early humans. Too eurocentric.

A bit of a weird book. I don't think I would use it in my class. Talks about evolution but in a weird and inaccurate way.

Ok. A picture book for very young children. For some reason I had thought it was tied to the adult nonfiction book Your Inner Fish and expected it to have more information about evolution. Instead, the presentation of one character who evolved over what seemed to be the span of one lifetime only created confusion about how evolution actually works.

A cool introduction to evolution. It also has a neat timeline in the back!

With Seussical leanings this short picture book gives a child (and some adults) a basic understanding of evolution and how humans evolved from fish to the modern humans we are today. Loved the speculation about what we might be one day, could lead to some great discussions! Back matter available for a slightly more in depth look at the evolution timeline. Recommended.

Although the illustrations were great, I was not impressed with the story.

I liked the rhyming elements and the simple/clear illustrations but it's too overly simplified for me and I don't like the conflation of biological evolution and the more colloquial sense of the term. May revisit.

Extremely simplified account of evolution with bold, often funny, illustrations.
