Honestly, not that great. Not very well written and verrrrrry cheesy. How did all those villains have children? Could have used more backstory.

So, there is this book. then the DCOM. then another book? WTF.

read it for my niece's book club. I will have much to say then.

This was a cute story. Easy to read. It was fun getting to know more about the characters backgrounds before the movie Descendants takes place. This novel is a prequel to the Disney Channel movie Descendants.

Quick read (once I had minutes to spare to do so). Liked the playful twist and all the fun nods to the Disney movies and fairy tales I loved so much. Can't wait to watch the movie w/ my kids next.

This was such an interesting read. I'm not used to reading from a villain's...or almost villain's POV. It was definitely unique.

I found the characters entertaining and even endearing. The relationships between the other villains was entertaining and quite funny at times. I'm looking forward to the TV movie coming out next month to see how this story-line plays out.

Yes, I love Disney and of course I've seen all the fairytale movies. This book tells us what happened to all those Disney villains after good triumphed over evil. They were all banished to an island, with no magic and they all had kids (but no spouses..hmmmm). Anyway, what is the offspring of an evil villain to do? Try to live up to expectations. This book was fun, and I admit I'm looking forward to the Disney movie.

When I heard about Disney's "Descendants" following the lives of the children of Disney's most famous villains: Maleficent, Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil and even watched the trailers I thought it was cute and possibly worth watching. When I learned that there was a book based upon the upcoming movie I just okay, whatever but when I saw the book and read the description I became a bit intrigued. When I was little I loved the Disney Princess and how they managed to find their Prince Charming but now as an adult I have to say that I prefer the villains (Regina/Evil Queen from Once Upon a Time is my favorite character. So consider me an Evil Regal) and find that the heroes can be a bit irritating -at least that's how I feel. So eventually I read a sample of "The Isle of the Lost" and was hooked. I bought the book and read it in a day, I couldn't put it down! I loved reading about each Disney Villain Descendant but I would have to say that Carlos, son of Cruella De Vil was my favorite. Why I can't really say, maybe it's because he's a bit of a nerd -with his experiments and inventions- who knows but I can't wait to see Cameron Boyce portray him in the movie. Mal, daughter of Maleficent (obviously) was also a favorite character of mine because even though she's trying desperately to follow in her mother's evil footsteps there's just something wickedly cool about her....and okay it sounds like she's got an awesome fashion style. I agree with Mal, purple is the new black ;) This book is definitely a great prequel to the upcoming movie and I'm looking forward to what Melissa de la Cruz will bring next

Love the DCOM and I enjoyed this book as well

A lot of time was spent of setting up the characters and there are reasons why it ended so quickly. I enjoyed the fact that the evil descendants lived on the isle of lost and seemed content with 'hey that is how life is". It seemed like a horrible way to go about your day

You were such a disappointment.

I don't plan to read the sequels. This story was all over the place. It was so slow, and felt like Disney references were thrown in to keep the reader interested. Didn't work.
