Honestly, this book reminds me of some kind of wattpad fanfiction. I did not like the writing and dreaded reading this book. My love for Desendants as a child saved this book from getting a one star rating. I'm not suprised that this book was bad, I guess I don't blame the author. She did her best.
I did like the multiple perspectives of each of the characters, I just think Ben shouldn't have been one of them.
However, it got a lot better at the end of the story, but I don't recommend it in the slightest.

I tried, but made it through maybe a quarter before deciding it wasn't for me. I can see the appeal for readers who are Disney-obsessed, and I really liked the premise of taking a look not only at the villains, but at their children. I do, however, question the ability for the villains to have children at all, since didn't most of them die (the villains)?
Just too many holes for me, and not a compelling enough story to make up for them.

Given how much I love the movie series, it's a wonder that I took this long to read the books. I love getting to see the origin stories of how the Core 4 became friends, and the lead up to the plot of the first film. Gives each character a bit more depth through backstory, but the overall plot was only mediocre. I think the next books will likely interest me more in terms of story-arc.
This isn’t an exact date of when I stopped reading it. But it was just too low a reading level for me to enjoy.

Over all, this was a really cute book and I *adored* the character development in it. All the little fairy tale mentions was cute. I may have to actually watch the TV show now. I'd tried once before and gotten turned off it almost immediately. However, knowing the characters I might be able to get engaged in it. I certainly enjoyed the book for the light little read that it was.
