This is one of those books which I deliberately read over a long period of time because I wanted to live through everything Sir David Attenborough had to say. For some one who has little interest in natural world his contribution remains immense. To witness the behind the camera anecdotes of some of the finest documentaries was indeed a great experience. The master storyteller of our times indeed weaves a master memoir too.

I've known Attenborough was so much more than the voice of animal documentaries, but it was fascinating learning about the extent to which he has worked to expand British television, and the circumstances that led him to be the most respected natural historian and beloved presenter we all admire. The volume is filled with traditional Attenborough humour, and each chapter is an adventure in the wilderness, whether of jungles or of the developing television environment. I recommend the audiobook as well, if only for his impressions of the various characters he quotes.

From tales of the early days of BBC television, to stories of the strange animals and often stranger people he's met in his travels around the world filming, this is brilliantly entertaining from start to finish. The man himself reading the audiobook is obviously the most perfect marriage of book and narrator it's possible to get. Wonderful.
