Interesting historical novel on the early life of eliza lucas pickney. A bit mushier than I hoped and less about Indigo than falling in love. A good bit about the worries of being a capable, thoughtful, well read female in 18th century colonial america

The Indigo Girl is a fabulous piece of historical fiction that reads as if it's poetry. The characters and descriptions are lush and vibrant. Eliza Lucas is a hardworking, determined, strong willed young woman who always did what she felt to be right, regardless of societies expectations. I am amazed I had never heard of her before this book. I wish more people knew of her and all that she accomplished.
