The Indigo Girl is a fabulous piece of historical fiction that reads as if it's poetry. The characters and descriptions are lush and vibrant. Eliza Lucas is a hardworking, determined, strong willed young woman who always did what she felt to be right, regardless of societies expectations. I am amazed I had never heard of her before this book. I wish more people knew of her and all that she accomplished.
