Really just everything I’m looking for in a Scottish historical romance. Lovable main characters with chemistry and fun supporting cast. Perfect amount of angst. Lushhhhhh

I really enjoyed this one. It's been awhile since I've read some HR - I think I gorged on them a few years back, and burned myself out.

I absolutely adored the FMC in this book - Annie is strong, loving, loyal, smart, compassionate, and much softer than she allows most of the world to see. She also had a wonderful pragmatic streak, and not even the teeniest speck of spoiled TSTL-ness. I also utterly loved her family, big tough highlander men who clearly adore their firey hoyden sister/daughter.

The MMC was also fun, especially once he got out of his own way and stopped living with his baggage as a boat anchor around his neck.

I devoured this book. I loved listening to it. The narrator does a fantastic job.

Vibe check:
Outlander
Brave
Princess diaries
Jane Austen
Enemies to lovers

Annie and John are exactly what you want from a romance. They are complex, VEX each other, and they just want to kiss each other’s face off.

There are some things I would change (a lot of story for one book, spice could’ve come sooner, and maybe a different word from dafty could’ve been used from time to time), but I loved it so much those things were not very bothersome.

Ms. McBean had me cackling OUT LOUD. 🤣 I can’t wait to read Broderick’s book.
