20,000 legues around the world, not to the bottom of the ocean.

This is a classic book, and I'm really glad I read the Walter translation (which prides itself on being accurate.)

The story is well-known, but I think I'm not the target audience for this novel. This, like Moby Dick, is a novel of the sea and spends pages and pages describing the types of plants and animals below the waves.

Unfortunately I don't know a wrasse from a triggerfish so a lot of the details were lost on me. I think an annotated version (with hotlinks to pictures of the fish and plants described) would be great.

More happening than Journey to the Center of the Earth, but not much of a climax.
