The cover was the best part about the book. The dialogue was so labored, and the humor felt so forced spending two or more pages hammering the same joke over and over that wasn’t funny in the first place. The characters are eyeroll-inducing caricatures. I skimmed the first few pages of each chapter because they were usually the internalized thoughts of the characters and was so much filler. From convoluted archeological exposition to forced emotional stakes juxtaposed JARRINGLY with explicit scenes, there was zero nuance or balanced tone in this. This completionist powered through — but I recommend against it.

Did not deliver. The adventurous and steamy scenes felt rushed, cliche, and unoriginal. Most of the book was the two characters repeatedly talking about how hot the other one was, with very little shown romantic development.

I wanted a cute, adventure romance with The Lost City vibes, but this wasn’t it. Their relationship was based on physical features only and the romance was majorly lacking. Also like who brings a vibrator on archeological dig?!

This book was fun. Very cheesy at times but a good laugh to read. The sex scenes had me a bit like 😬 with some word choices, but other than that it was fine and a fairly decent adventure story. Started off a bit slow and then quite a LOT happened towards the end with everything tied up nicely. I feel like the author teases a sequel at the end but who knows?
