I'd like to give it 4.5 stars, just because it wasn't quite as good as the first book in this series, but it was a great read nonetheless.

3.5 stars. I really like the set up of these books, the Hollows, the suburb of NY where all of this takes place, and how you get to know the characters. I'm just sad that I read them out of order, having read ink and bone first.

Though I had read Fragile, it had been long enough that I didn’t remember details that related to this book, making it a fresh visit to The Hollows. While some of the characters are the same, their place in life and involvement in the story have changed. What hasn’t changed is the wide range of characters and the theme of family and history. Jones Cooper, a retired cop finding himself taking on the role of private detective, plays a central role in connecting the different characters and plots. There are troubled teens, troubled marriages, and a decades-long disappearance of a mother that still haunts her grown son. All of these stories intertwine as lives in small towns do. Lisa Unger delivers another good character-driven mystery.

Ooh, this one was all messed up. I liked the psychological aspect of it. And I felt like the behavior of the high school student was realistic and believable. Love me some The Hollows. I also love the psychic!
