THIS BOOK MAN. THIS. BOOK.
The story kind of turns to be a little annying in the middle but the end makes it all worth it.

the premise of this book definitely requires some suspension of disbelief, but it did make for an interesting read. Violet was a pretty typical YA fmc, and the story was entertaining if a bit predictable. the tone was a bit strange in this book because it attempts to cover serious topics without actually getting too dark because of its audience. i liked the glittery ballroom setting, but the world-building as a whole was a little lacking, and the romance wasn't particularly memorable. overall, this was a fine entry into the ya dystopian space; i think i might have been compelled to continue the series had i read it when it first came out, but at this moment, i'm okay with setting it aside.

I really really enjoyed this book and the concept behind it! Honestly this story doesn’t seem too far fetched as a dystopian especially in times like this. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and see where they go with it.

I still really enjoyed this book and I love the power struggle between all of the royal women. I'm so excited to finally continue and finish this trilogy!

This is how it ends?? Luckily I knew ahead of time that this was going to be a trilogy but the second book doesn't even have a title yet which makes me antsy because of the way this book left off. There were several elements that I liked. A great role of secondary characters. I could use a bit more of an explanation on the somewhat sci-fi elements of the auguries. My only problem with the book was the crap love story. I'm so sick of YA writers and their instalove. So over it. Otherwise, loved it and want more!

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this book. I listened to the audiobook, which I wasn't the biggest fan of either (I'm picky with my narrators). It's an interesting concept even though it mildly resembles The Handmaid's Tale but for teens.

The Insta love is a major turn-off, and I'm honestly hoping there's another love interest because I don't care for their romance whatsoever. While I wasn't in love with this story, it has intrigued me enough to continue on to the sequel and hope for better.
