This book was heart racing, dark, morbid, graphic, and incredibly SMUTY! What an amazing take on a childhood classic to turn it into something so grown and passionate. It’s beautiful. A love well deserved yet slightly disturbing but I’m more than happy that Wendy and James grew and continued to love.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book Review: Hooked by Emily McIntire

Okay, let me just say—I loved this book. Emily McIntire has such a clever way of weaving Disney elements into her dark retellings, and Hooked was no exception. I adored the little nods: Croc and the ticking clock, the watches, Hook’s chilling method of unaliving people, the “Bell” character clearly inspired by Tinkerbell (without actually naming her), and of course Peter, Wendy, John, and the Lost Boys—even the twins. The way all these pieces were tied in made the story feel so familiar yet fresh.

There were a few characters where I thought, “Wait, where did they come from?” but overall, the plot was so strong and engaging that it all worked. And that plot twist at the end? So good. Definitely one of those jaw-drop moments.

This book is very much an enemies-to-lovers vibe. Both Hook and Wendy were dealing with their own demons, and while their relationship started off rocky (as it usually does in these types of stories), it developed into something layered, passionate, and so worth the ride. There were definitely some WTF moments, a few OMGs, and yes—a whole lot of spice 🔥. Hook is smooth—some of his lines had me like, “Okay, sir…” And Wendy? She held her own just as much, which I loved.

Overall, this was such a fun, dark, and addictive read. If you enjoy twisted fairy tales with just enough Disney nods to make you smile, and a storyline that keeps you on your toes without being too graphic, then this book is for you. I’ve only got one book left in the series, and honestly, I can’t wait to dive in.

Highly recommend.

Didnt love this one. The FMC was dumb, naive and cowardly. Made stupid decisions throughout the book. blindly fell in love with this man after like 2 weeks without ever asking him a single question about himself? And then when he turns on her she doesn’t really mind?? Actually loves him more for it? The smut also made me cringe.
Didn’t hate the plot line, just the main character

It's a 3.5 but I'm in a good mood and it's first book in this series so round up 4 ⭐️

James was the villain in this story who just needed love and what happen to him as a child just broke my heart, he really didn't deserve all that
