I liked this book, although it did take me a minute to truly get into it. The book starts with a whole lot of missing pieces, and then towards the end things start to make a bit more sense, though I feel like there’s still a lot left to uncover.

3.5* I wanted to love this more than I did. It wasn’t a bad read, I just expected more than it delivered. I liked the characters but the pacing felt off, and I just wanted more or everything- more action, more tension, more spice… just more

This descriptions says the character is 17, but the version I read has her at 19 so when the author says she has a YA version and a not-YA version, that makes sense.

This is an interesting adventure that starts off a series set in waterworld. The main character is kind of a mess and I got frustrated with her until I realized why she is that way (which isn’t explained until the second book).

Just when I thought it was getting cliched, Shipton threw in plot twists. I like it a lot.

What I don’t get is the romance. It feels obligatory, isn’t really a focus, and isn’t necessary to the overall story.
