Ahh, I'm finally finished. I felt like losing interest more and more with each chapter in this whole series. The plot was just very basic and predictable and none of the characters really stood out to me.
The only thing that I actually respect, is that this is probably the first book where I've seen the FM actually end up with the guy that she fell in love with first and who is kind of average instead of the mysterious, hot and charming man that has a bit of a dark side to him. That was actually refreshingly unique.
Well anyways, now I can finaly read six of crows with a good conscience.

3 stars. I hate how much I don’t care about these books or the main characters. Honestly, you can take Alina and Mal out of this series and place them in any other YA fantasy series you can think of and they would blend right in because they are such blank slate characters. There’s nothing to them and I don’t feel like they went through any type of character development over the course of the series. I never got attached to them as characters, their romance, or anything that was happening to them.
I’m only giving this three stars instead of two because Bardugo’s writing is great, there were some intense moments in this that I liked, and also (of course) for The Darkling and Nikolai. They are the only two characters that actually feel like characters in this entire series. Yes, The Darkling is a villain and does some awful things but man do I love him. He has some depth to him which is more than I can say for the heroine. And Nikolai is just an absolute delight. I adore him so much. They have personalities and goals which is always great.
I only finished this series so that I can be ready for the upcoming Netflix show. I’m so glad Bardugo gets much better with her later works.
