I expected to feel kind of meh about this series going into it because everyone said it wasn’t the best but I actually loved it so much. I’m really glad I picked it up!

Probably my least favorite out of all three… but! I’m excited to dive into the Nikolai duology now that I’m through with damn Alina and Mal

4.5 What if... what if I said this fights SOC for best book...someone would attack me I know it. it was just straight up action the entire time, so much so that I finished it in one day? That's crazy what was I on. Anyway, I also love Nikolai and just all of the characters. They felt like they all got their storylines wrapped up and the way I ALMOST LOST MY MIND AT THE END...WHEN...WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED I WAS SCREAMING. It just gripped me like no other and I was somehow surprised at the direction it turned. I didn't think this series would ever do it for me, but I'm happy to say that I finally understand the hype.

It just felt like it was such a satisfying end to the conclusion.

This doesnt change the fact that I dont understand the hype for the darkling though like that is not man.

This finale wrapped up with quite a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, but somehow still concluded satisfactorily for me. I enjoyed the magical world they inhabited. And the third book focused a lot on the rag-tag group of Grisha friends on an “ impossible”quest, which I enjoyed. Overall, an enjoyable YA fantasy trilogy.

What a journey we have been on. This book wrapped up the trilogy nicely, even if I am a bit hurt over The Darkling's ending. Great read, and I'm looking forward to staying in this universe and reading 'Six of Crows'!

All things considered this wrapped up pretty well. I still don’t love that Nikolai was kind of hanging in there to form some weird barely there love triangle.. but I get that he was meant to be loved by fans sense he’s the star of the next duology. Big fan of YA books having some level of nuance to their villains and I think there was some small measure of that with the darklings ending, plus Mal had a nice little comeback here.
