“Aleksander,” I whispered. A boy’s name, given up. Almost forgotten.

Here lies the last book on the Grishaverse I love this series but what an awful unexpected vanilla conclusion.

3.5 true rating, but probably my favorite of the grishaverse, though that’s honestly not saying a lot. I have the same issue as I did with the previous two books where literally everyone other than Alina is more interesting. Even Oncat.

But I do think that once her true struggle with Mal comes into play that things start to get more interesting, though I was honestly upset at the typical *~tragic romance~* of finally figuring out that yes, you idiots love each other, but just kidding, it can only be fully realized through *murder*. At that point, I was thinking, “please just kill me instead”.

Luckily, though, I think that the follow-through was great and I loved the after part where they can literally just be normal and happy (and also paying tribute to their “mother” in the best way). A great set up for King of Scars, which I’m excited for since Nikolai is probably the true star of this book (besides Zoya, obviously).

This was a good and surprising end to this trilogy. There were MANY twists and turns throughout this entire book. BUT OH MAN...i was not expecting one of them. Yes. I did cry, there was a point where i couldn't take it anymore and just let the tears flow.

Mal. I want to marry this man. Yes. Yes. I know that he sometimes ignored our dear Alina at sometimes but HE WAS ONLY TRYING TO PROTECT HER. He is so caring and sweet and I just love him.

Nikolai. I can't. He is my favorite character by far. Here is a quote that I think was one of the best quotes that I have ever read. It made me laugh so hard (If you have read the series you know why it is funny) "I gasped. 'imposs-' 'Don't say it,' muttered Mal. The chaos erupted." (Pg. 119) OH YESSIR! I am so excited to start the next book (King of Scars) because IT IS LITERALLY ABOUT HIM. ugh SWOON.

The Darkling. I found myself actually feeling bad for him. I know. I know. But he will always have a soft spot in my heart.

Overall, I thought that this book was amazing. It was a little confusing at some times but I really enjoyed it. I will say, though, that I think I enjoyed the others better (who knows...maybe it is just because I don't want it to end.)

I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!!!! This conclusion was SO great and satisfying! I am so excited to see what Leigh Bardugo writes in the future, because she has for sure made a fan out of me!
