Oliver Banks can talk to the recently deceased or, more accurately they contact him for help. Its in this capacity that he is able to help the police in a particularly gruesome and disturbing case. At 155 pages this is a short, quick read which eliminates a lot of "padding" but equally doesn't give us the chance to know much about the characters. Therefore story wise it hammers along at a brisk pace, resulting in a decent thriller resembling a cross between Odd Thomas and a Chris Carter novel. I'll definitely try to catch the others in the series.
