Spirited Away meets Princess Mononoke in the The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea. This book totally gave me epic anime vibes (the demon snakes reminded me so much of demon hordes from Inuyasha) which made it such a fun read.

I wish that there was a bit more world building in regards to the Spirit Realm’s social structure of Gods and Goddesses, but in a quick, 320 page fantasy standalone, you can’t have it all.

“Wait for me, where the land meets the sea.”

Can we also talk about that cover?! Gorgeous!

I love love love love this book.
I adored the whimsical feeling of it. It gave me the same feelings of Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away, which is a piece of media I absolutely love.
The story was a bit predictable and the pacing was a little off at times, but i thought the romance was really good. The writing was beautiful and poetic, the characters were all lovely, and the world the story was set in was charming!

The story and cover of this book are pretty. i think this book tells how much Mina loves her family, friends and her husband, and i really enjoyed reading this book because i can feel Mina's love.

This book is very atmospheric. The beautiful and mysterious atmosphere of the book carried it, when the story should have done so. The story itself was predictable, and nothing truly special. It was neatly packaged and wrapped up. It did not wow, but it also did not disappoint.
