The story of Beren and Luthien is one of my Tolkien favorites, and once again Christopher does not disappoint with this volume, he shows us the original story and how it changed through time tangeling with what would become The Silmarillion. The prose and verse versión is captivative and beautiful, the images stectacular and the book in general very entertaining for any fan.
Me encantan estos volúmenes con la explicación de cómo fueron cambiando las grandes historias de los días antiguos de la Tierra Media. Podría leer algo así sobre todo el Silmarillion sin aburrirme. Y mira que son algo repetitivos porque van sobre eso; la historia contada repetidas veces con ligeras variaciones y una explicación de cuando cambiaron, y si se sabe, el porque se cambiaron. Christopher Tolkien se la rifo bien y bonito y siempre estaré agradecida. Además, las ilustraciones son oro.
En particular, Beren y Luthien si que cambio bastante con los años, muchos personajes entran y salen de las versiones o incluso la forma de contar la historia pues tenemos una versión en verso que es inmejorable, ojala se tuviera todo el Silmarillion así, y para mi esto hace que el libro sea mucho más dinámico que La caída de Gondolin. Ofrece mucho más y cualquier fan de Tolkien sabrá apreciarlo.
Como dije, eternamente agradecida con Cristopher Tolkien por estas historias, las estoy disfrutando mucho. Pero en definitiva necesitas tener ya cierto conocimiento de los personajes e historia general o podrías perderte en el camino. Si o si necesitas leer el Silmarillion primero.

LOTR is my favorite book, all the background material like this book is of interest to me because of LOTR. Other readers may fell far differently.
Having read The Lord of the Rings with references to the story of Beren and Luthien, you are definitely expecting something more than this mediocre literary milking of Tolkien's fans.
Never heard of this book before reading it.
I have always been a fan of the Lord of the Rings series and to have read this book which takes place in the LOTR universe is really interesting.

Another precious piece of Tolkien's mind! I loved every part of this book ! (What if I already knew the story, she had a lot of small jems in it! even if it was difficult to read I really enjoyed)
