I cried when she was kidnapped until I realised this wouldn’t have happened if she didn’t fall inlove with her rapist and stalker. Now I cry for her stupidity. And I want to burn my mind for reading these two books.

This book is sick and twisted! Check the trigger warnings! Some of the content was difficult to get through but damn, was it worth it. I thoroughly loved this series and loved how it was wrapped up. The only thing I wanted out of it was more of Zade and Adeline in an extended epilogue, but it really did end perfectly.

This book took me way longer to read than it should have because it is just.... not good.

The first book was meh, and I wouldn't have even read the sequel except a friend insisted, stating it's "even better the the first!"

The first book tried to be a "dark romance" even if I didn't think it did it well. This one was torture porn and abuse - even the parts that were supposed to be "romantic." The characters feel even more shallow and fake than the first book.

I straight up hate Zade. The writing for his chapters, the narrative voice, the boring ass narcissism in him reveling over his own prowess and dick size and insistence at being called "God."

And the cognitive dissonance for his character - and the plot as a whole - is absolutely insane. Man who is supposedly committed to freeing women from sex trafficking stalks and SAs woman until she develops Stockholm syndrome, then he loses his shit when other people kidnap her and treat her the same. If that's not enough, he then threatens and intimidates and performs the SAME sexually and physically abusive acts she experienced in human trafficking that left her traumatized....under the guise of "helping" and "loving" her (but also because he "just can't resist.")

Oh, also now she's a sexy revenge babe because why wouldn't she be?

Seriously. It's just.... it's all bad.

If you do decide to read it, see author's trigger warnings. They are significantly more intense than the first book.

3.5 rounded up bc I’m nice. Shockingly graphic, sad, and hideous content in this book. I will echo the other reviews wholeheartedly — the writing and plot has improved and progressed. Did like the first one a bit more I think, but this was a good read that had me very enticed!
