Not as good as Beowulf but enjoyable in the same sort of way. I appreciated the translator's explanation of different types of poetry and how that affected his word choices. Much like when I discovered Beowulf, I now am intrigued to read another translation and compare...

This was so much fun! We read the Middle English text with a reading group and I really enjoyed it. The ending is wild and the book is pretty humorous

One of the main events of this poem is the wife of Gawain’s host trying to seduce Gawain into committing adultery. There isn’t any actual infidelity. In addition, the wife is relentless in her seduction attempts and corners Gawain while he’s nude in bed. These scenes could be interpreted as sexual harassment preformed by the wife. The hunting scenes are also very graphic.
