i just put this book away and immediately needed to tell the world that i just had the privilege of being given a glimpse into the soul of the universe. i really hope the lessons i'm beginning to learn for this book stick around with me for a while, or that someday i can experience the everythingness of everything to its full extent.
“Do you really believe that you have committed your follies to spare your son from committing them?…but even if you were to die ten times for him, you would not be able to relieve him of the smallest part of his destiny.”

This one is so wildly different from what I typically read that I can't really say much about it. Shoutout to my partner who lent it to me after they referenced the book in conversation. I don't regret reading it. It got me to pause and remember to be thankful for the life I have and that true happiness is what you make it.

It's a wonderful book and one of my favorites. It reminded me of several truths I had forgotten. The real spiritual lessons that Siddartha learns through experience and not teachings are: how to listen, to be less arrogant, to see yourself and see the divine in this world, to see everyone as they are (their worst and their best), to let people follow their own paths and that in order to find peace within yourself, you cannot run away from yourself.
These lessons are told in several ways, words, parables and descriptions is holy books and sacred scriptures, but Siddhartha was right. You cannot become enlightened through reading teachings, you become a peaceful person through experiencing life and changing yourself.
