G Is for Gumshoe

Sue Grafton

3.75 AVERAGE

This one's my favourite. It has a nice new dynamic between Kinsey and her bodyguard, a mystery with English lit references, and family drama.

I thought it was so fun.

One of the best of the Kinsey Millhones. Like the history behind "The slabs" in CA (which I never knew about before reading this the first time around.) Also how the two plots (missing woman and hit put out on Kinsey) intertwined. Plus an excellent ending.

I enjoyed G is for Gumshoe far more than I expected to. The Kinsey Millhone series is pretty formulaic (as are most mysteries), but the two plots were interesting and I did not expect the twist at the end.

The plot of this book was a little weak. And the ending sucked.. But it was good that Kinsey is starting to be less of a jerk. I hope this dietz character is in more books!

Loved it.

Kinsey's reaction to visiting a nursing home was hysterical! I used to visit nursing homes as part of my job so can highly relate.
adventurous lighthearted mysterious fast-paced

Super creepy--the creepiest of hers I've read so fat. It ends so abruptly, though, that I hesitate to give it five stars.

Kinsie Milhone is back! This time she is trying to track down an elderly mother for a concerned daughter. This takes her to a community of vagrants and vagabonds. Kinsey goes further down the rabbit hole as the old woman has links to a long forgotten series of murders.

But while she does this, she finds herself in the crosshairs of a hired killer. Forced to hire a bodyguard, Kinsey chafes at the limiting of her freedom. But this killer is serious about taking Kinsey down. Can she unravel her mystery while keeping herself alive.

Good addition to the series, putting Kinsey in the position of trying to solve a mystery while hamstrung by a minder. No mention of Rosie and minimal Henry are detractors for the long time fans of this series. Tense, quick moving, it is still a good read.
