This was not what I expected; in fact I am not sure what I expected. This was NOT an action/suspenseful/creepy type of book. It was more about man's inner struggle with his severly changing environment. I did enjoy this book, but I think my expectation kept going back to the 1953 film. I remained open about the book and did appreciate what this character's experience was and how he dealt with it. I liked the fact that the ending was more somber, triumphant for man, but reality of life besides our own, being in the universe puts things in perspective. Glad I finally read this book and I do recommend it to everyone.

3.5, suffering from success as it seems played out now.
