Full disclosure, I have not read the Kincaid Pack series, and though it took nothing away from enjoying this book, I definitely want to go and read them because I am intrigued and need to know more!

There’s a fantastic mystery component to this story. Who has injured and trapped this poor jaguar shifter as a message to Quinten? And why do they both feel so drawn to one another.

Quinten is a mob boss, but he’s also misunderstood, and a little blind to his own worth outside of his business. He’s surrounded himself with a misfit, but talented, group of parahumans, that don’t just work for him, they are his family.

I love that amongst the mystery, blood, capturing, chase, etc, there is tenderness and sweetness and you feel a bit marshmallowy about it all. Badass dudes always make the best teddy bears.

One of my favourite aspects of a story is when both men need something from the other. For Caden, that was to feel safe and treasured. For Quinten, it was to feel worthy, that being human wasn’t a failing.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a series to catch up on!

PS. Check out the audiobook because Kirt Graves does a phenomenal job.

I'm a simple girl : I see paranormal, fates mates and organised crime (I mean there's "mobster" in the title) and I'm in!
The book ended up to be a fast and very enjoyable read! A part of me wanted more but since the book is a bridge between the Kincaid Pack series and the author's new series Silver Oak Pack (wich I could tell), I'm fine with what I got.

WARNING! THIS BOOK HAS DARK TRIGGERS THAT SHOULD BE READ WITH CAUTION! BE AN ADULT ABOUT IT!

The Mobster’s Mate:

Rating: 4.75

Opener

Having read the compelling synopsis and fallen in love with the cover, I was intrigued to read this! Very glad that I did! With just the right amount of elements I love in shifter and mafia/mob books, this checked off my boxes! Especially how filthy and Possessive Quinten and Caden were together, absolutely loved it!

 Positives:

I know what made this a joy for me to read was {blend of shifter and mob themes, Quinten for his [alpha male nature, possessiveness, ruthlessness, dirtiness, and wearing suits], Caden being [jaguar shifter, growly and possessive over Quinten, and how he could switch from be submissive to being deadly so easily], humor, how close Quinten was with his little brother, pack dynamic and liking the side characters}! From the list I said here, there was a lot that reeled me into the book. Especially with how Quinten and Caden were with each other! Extremely hot with the over possessiveness, primality, and boiling sex scenes! Definitely loved their dynamic and how Quinten was the epitome of a suited daddy! Also loved the world itself and the interactions with the other characters such as Dare, Nero, Rick, and amongst others! Just overall amazing aspects that made this flow well and kept me engaged!

 Improvements:

The only issues I had while reading this were: {Caden got bratty and rushed Quinten after the midway point, and confused as to how Nero drank blood when it was said he didn’t early on in the story}. As for the first, Caden was unfair toward Quinten for how fast they got together and Quinten’s feelings overall. Which was acknowledged minutely near the end, but more blame was put on Quinten in my opinion. The latter being less major, but still something I noticed since it was said earlier that it was a “misconception vampires drank blood. Instead they could eat some foods”. Then with Nero drinking blood from a bad guy near the end, it confused me. Other than that, I still had a smoking time reading this story!

 Recommendation:

I would highly recommend checking this book out if you are looking for a blend of shifter and mob elements with all the positives I mentioned above! Had a wonderful time reading this and will have to buy for the bookshelf! Looking forward to the Silver Oak Pack series coming out in the future! Great work Clark! Happy reading!
