Great to be back in the Kincaid-verse, but as a standalone story, I found this lacking. I wanted a lot more character development and a more satisfying resolution. Seriously, the villain (who never seems particularly threatening anyhow) just shows up to be killed at the end. All the work to figure out who the villain is and what they want happens off-page and the bigger issue of who's kidnapping shifters and why is left to be resolved in future books, I guess.
