Honestly, this is the first McFadden book that I thoroughly enjoyed! I didn’t understand the hype of the author after the last couple I’ve read from her, but The Housemaid is pretty fantastic. I’m excited to read the sequel.

I choose the bear!!!

I read this in a day, so it was interesting enough to keep me engaged. Was it the best I’ve ever read? No, but my jaw did drop at the last line from the mom. I am annoyed by how conveniently everything wrapped up, though.

The writing was okay, but the trauma porn... This was so unethical and wrong. Highly disturbing.
In terms of plot: if you've read 'Girl on the train' and/or 'Last Mrs Parrish' you've read this one. The wrap up of the story also felt... too smooth. Nope nope nope.

It was definitely a page-turner of a book. The twist was predictable but still interesting but the ending was a sad trombone gif (if they made sound gifs).
