this is the first time I read a book in this genre. I could say it was an easy read! I'm not used to this genre and I would love to go back to my usual silly little romance 😩 It got quite scary for me in some parts and had to stop reading (I was reading at night so I was like NO I want to sleep tonight) and come back to it the next day 😂 I love the alternating POV of Millie and Nina at the end AND THE FUCKING TWIST OF IT ALL LIKE!?? I did not expect that 😭😭 poor little Cece and Andrew's mother!? wtf 💀🤸🏻‍♀️

This was a pretty solid thriller. I’d recommend this to anyone wanting to dip their toes into the genre. I guessed the overall twist but it was still a wild ride.

This entire review contains spoilers.

From the very beginning, I questioned whether Nina was actually psychotic, or if Andrew was really the psychotic one. When Andrew kicked Nina out of the house, I asked myself whether it was time to be extra scared of Nina, or scared of Andrew. So, while I somewhat saw the “twist” of Parts II and III coming, there were also still a few of surprises.

The author did an amazing job of building connections with Nina’s perspective in Part II. My jaw actually dropped a few times!

I wasn’t 100% sure how Part III was going to play out, but I’m happy with it. While it might not be the most realistic (specifically with the detective and his relationship to everything), it was a perfectly satisfying ending. Especially with the added bonus of Evelyn and Nina’s conversation, and Millie’s new job interview.

I recently read Verity by Colleen Hoover (which made me VERY uncomfortable and disturbed), and, for the first half(ish) of this book, I thought the two stories were incredibly similar. However, I think this story was less disturbing (specifically because there was significantly less talk of child abuse) and better-written.

I found myself rooting for different characters at different times. Millie was frustrating for ignoring so many BRIGHT red flags at the beginning (though I get she didn’t necessarily have many choices). Nina and Cecelia were so frustrating at times! Then Nina was extra frustrating for knowingly subjecting Millie to toxic situations (though I empathized with her). Evelyn was hard to trust at times. Enzo was mysterious at the beginning, and I wasn’t sure what was going on there for a while.

The writing could have been of a higher quality, but in spite of that it's compulsively readable and difficult to put down.

First thoughts- THANK GOD FOR ENZZO!!! I love him!

As crazy as Nina seemed in the beginning I actually kind of liked her character. I didn’t like the way she treated Millie but I knew something was going to happen; her behavior was too extreme. The ending was twisty and unexpected! My exact words were, “What?! That’s how it ends???”

I enjoyed that there were multiple characters and points of view in the story yet it was easy to follow. I never found myself confused and that’s important to me. At Part 2 was when it really started to pick up pace, so hang in there if you’re feeling like the first chunk is slow!

Wow this book was so good but I wouldn’t expect anything less from my girl Freida! Each chapter left me wanting more and there were so many twists keeping me engaged. I love to hate each character in this book yet Freida’s got me empathizing with each one. The change in perspective kept the book fresh and flushed everything out. I will be reading the sequel VERY soon!
