First of all let’s appreciate the cover, it’s so freaking pretty…

When I first start reading, it seemed like the movie “kismat konnection” and I was like I already know what’s gonna happen. I thought to stop reading but then I gave it a go and wasn’t disappointed seeing it was entirely different. I didn’t really enjoy as much as I thought I would. The characters didn’t really have much development as I though they would.

The only reason I liked this book was coz of arjun and madhuris mums bond

Dual POV. Friends to lovers. Fake dating.

The best combination of fate vs free will and familial vs pop culture. Being a child of immigrants means that you might be their American dream. It means juggling appreciating your family’s customs while trying to adapt to current society. It means potentially have an identity crisis as you try to honor your ancestors while discovering who you are as in individual in the modern world.

So well written. Every topic was explored but not exhausted. Characters were developed fully to where I felt the connection but not saturated to where I was annoyed by them. It was also nice that each character played a crucial role; there was not an extra who just seemed superfluous. My favorite part: the ending was realistic. Sometimes life is bittersweet - not everything is going to align. I feel like books that focus on culture could almost seem racist sometimes. Or like over exaggerating the customs. But this book was a perfect blend of detailed yet respectful.
