Bored white soccer mom being a little too nosy. If you like constant repetition, mediocre writing, and a very slow almost glacial pace for 85% of the book and then the speed of a rocket launch at the end, you might like this book.

Characters were dull. Not the author's fault, but I found the main character's "I don't get what's happening with the youth these days" attitude to be annoying to read about. The mystery was drip-fed and then answered all at once. I didn't find any of it unexpected and found the twists to be more like roadblocks delaying me from getting to the end of the story.
Lewis was so unbearable from the beginning that I couldn't understand why anyone ever thought he was good?

I was really excited to read this one, the synopsis just sounded so intriguing. Unfortunately I ended up finding this story to be too slow and a bit boring. I almost DNFd this multiple times and only pushed through hoping that the big reveal would pay off.

I found that the protagonists crossed a lot of boundaries and was oddly obsessive. There were also whole storylines (and even an entire chapter) that went no where and had no use to the plot.

Perfect Little Children by Sophie Hannah

⭐️⭐️⭐️

“If we never make any changes that scare us at first, we end up missing out.”

I don’t know what I expected from Perfect Little Children, but this was not it. I liked the beginning and I liked the end, but I feel like I could have gone without 75 pages in the middle. The story got repetitive. Like yes, the narrator might not be super reliable. I get it. But do we need to keep going back and forth?? Perfect Little Children was hard to get through and took me way longer than it should have. The twist at the end became predictable, but I did enjoy it so I won’t complain about that too much. I feel like there should have been something else to the plot or it should have been shorter. Overall, I was disappointed, but I did like about half of the book.

I recommend this for those who are new to thrillers and want something that isn’t too psychological.

This book, which I finished in a day, has excellent pacing and a nice edge-of-your-seat factor. The end falls a little flat, though, due to its shaky reasoning, but the book is still a worthwhile read if you're in a rut.
