Well that was.... disturbing. It was also very appropriate for 2020. Pretending every thing is normal when it is not and ignoring the terror going on around you. Yep that about sums up the attitudes of the people in my little corner of Tennessee towards 2020.

Really well done, tbh. Nothing earth shattering, but a great dig into capitalism and a violent, horrific, strange world that is described well.

holy shit this was terrifying and great. the banalities of office life really do become horrific when you stop to think about what we're ignoring in order to go thru those motions...

“What a nice night,” she said, her voice barely audible over the shrieking emanating from neighboring houses, “what a … lovely, lovely night. We’re having a good time. We’re okay.”

A genuinely scary short.  A world where you cannot show any emotion apart from shallow happiness or horrific former humans will subsumb you.  Eric is fighting perpetual nausea, trying for a promotion where even the walk to work can be deadly, and is very aware of everything while trying hard to ignore the dismembered ex colleagues, or the the eldritch horrors that are now the regional managers.

Characters desparately Ignoring reality- yes  this powerful, well written short will linger with me for a long while.

This is just a nice little mudane tale of a man climbing the corporate ladder and spending some time with friends and family. Nothing else! Everything is fine. We're all okay. It's not like the world is ending or anything like that, why would you even say that.
