This one’s for you, Chris Hokanson. You’ll love it.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it verrrrrrry slowly so maybe I'm forgetting parts I didn't like, but the story of Kate and Mel biking the Silk Road made for an engaging treatise on travel and exploration. Great writing!

I'm not one to critique another's real life experiences and takeaways, but this whole thing felt very disjointed and a little bit boring. Mostly I'm disappointed that I don't seem to be having much luck with my handpicked bookish subscription.

So much more than just a personal journey through the Silk Road.

Absolutely gorgeous writing from a brilliant person. This account of science, geography, nationalism, bike travel, exploration, you name it, manages to tie everything together in a way that was completely satisfying to me even if I wouldn't have taken this trip in the same manner she did. I immediately want to read it again.

Dnf. Probably because I recently did To Shake the Sleeping Self and there’s only so much anecdotal bike life I can handle
