i read half of this book in 2020, put it on hold ( i can’t remember why, maybe i was bored) and picked it back up a few days ago
i can’t remember what happened in the first half (or maybe 55/60% actually) but liv and ford were cute in the part i read recently. i wasn’t overly into the story but i liked them as characters and as a couple
the brothers were really annoying tho. especially colm because why are standing in front of your sister talking about someone « fucking her » like she’s not here and cannot make any decision? why are you making choices for her ? she’s an adult. and he’s being really disrespectful for someone who pretends he wants to protect or modesty and future or whatever. g r o s s

There are so many things to love about Maya Hughes' Fearless King...
Let me begin by saying I have been enamoured with The Kings since the beginning. The journey Maya has brought us on has been amazing and knowing there is still one more tortured King to go...is it wrong to say I'm excited for his bleeding story. No? Good :)
Anyway, here is just a short list of the things I loved about Fearless King:
*The continual update on all things Kings. Everyone is still with us and I adore the glimpses into their continuing lives; whether it's good or bad.
*Grant Atherton, Ford's baby brother. Seriously, who knew Grant was so adorable? Yes, he has a major crush on Liv, and this alone would make a great story. Living under the limelight of his famous older brother with unrequited love and he's stinking adorable. Maybe Grant will get his HEA someday too. I can only hope.
*Sylvia Atherton, Ford's mother. Considering we don't get a lot of interaction with the other hockey parents, Sylvia is the unicorn parent we all wish we had growing up. She is sweet, understanding, always there with a warm, baked cookie, and going to bat for you no matter what. She adores both of her boys and Liv, each interaction with her was a joy to read.
*This is a work of fiction, yes, but I felt there was a lesson to be learned. Are you doing what brings you joy everyday? So many of us don't and Maya brings about a pretty powerful message through her characters (which I won't give away so you can enjoy it yourself), but I hope people take away that same wonderful feeling that I did when they are done reading.
Ford and Liv have known each other since they were children, or technically since Liv was a child and Ford was a teenager. It was pretty much an instant crush for Liv, even before she knew what a crush was. Hanging out with her brother, Colm, and his friends was second nature. For the most part they ignored her and Liv's crush grew as time passed.
"There's no one else I want in the world, but I can't have you." -Liv
It wasn't until much later that Ford recognized the side glances, the lingering stares and Liv's changing body that his feelings began to change, but he also knew he'd never be able to act upon them. Colm was his best friend and he'd never betray that trust.
But...
One kiss was all it took to change things between Ford and Live forever. Feelings they had both long denied burst through the dam they'd both constructed around their carefully constructed lives, but one kiss was all they'd have for a year and a half.
"The kiss that had unlocked a part of my soul and cemented it to hers." -Ford
It wasn't until Colm asked for a favor, one that Ford couldn't turn down, check in on his disappearing/unresponsive sister while he was out of town. Ford had kept his distance for almost two years and that long ago kiss soon wouldn't be enough to erase everything he wanted to do to the woman plaguing his dreams.
Falling back into old patterns, easily picking up where their friendship left off, no longer could they deny the chemistry that was between them. They'd circled each other long enough. It was finally time to see what destiny had in store for them. The only questions left were; would destiny favor their long awaited relationship or would fate be fickle and ruin everything they knew and everyone in their lives?
Maya Hughes wrote another great book to add to the Rittenhouse series. Ford will break your heart. He is good man, but makes so many mistakes in trying to be a good man, my heart constantly bled for him. Liv is a good balance for him and the two of them together will melt you right to the ground.

I am in love with the themes in this book. Best friend's sister but also brother's best friend all mulled together was a whole lot of drama I couldn't peel my eyes away from.
I loved watching the power of a connection between two people who need to be together but can't start to take over.
Ford and Liv's constant thoughts for their siblings and best friends was beautiful but so frustrating at times.
Simply beautiful yet again from Maya Hughes.

the premise and the beginning of these books are always so much better than the execution. like i was so excited and it wasn’t bad or anything i just didn’t love it even though i wanted to.
as i read: i’m already relating to ford’s anxiety a little too hard. i feel so bad for colm with ford sleeping with felicity like even though he didn’t know that’s still so sad. all of these are stupid miscommunication!!! i hope liv and ford figure it out a little earlier. i want the scene of them that everyone saw in the last book. i like them but like i want something to happen already. okay their phone sex was really good and it was nice because i didn’t want them to have sex yet but it happy something finally happened. of course the second after they get together they find reasons to split apart. i like that they already want to talk to colm about it like ford’s not putting it off. i love how quickly grant got over it and told them he was cool with it. i like how quickly they just want to be together like after the fire they’re both thinking about forever which i like. i can already tell that colm freaking out is gonna drive them apart. i like that he couldn’t walk away from him. im excited for colm’s book and him and imogen.

Omggg this was so good i devoured it! Of course this leaves you wanting more and needing Colm's book like asap. Fall. I can make it til fall. I think hahahaha. But anyways i loved Ford and Olivia. I loved the brother's best friend plot. I cant wait for more!
